Scheming Cilla Battersby is back - and this time she's got her eye on the main chance. The selfish mother-from-hell is on the verge of pulling off her most audacious scam to date but there's one small problem. Cilla needs her family to join her in South Africa.
But after deserting them so many times before - she's going to have to go to extraordinary lengths to convince or cajole Chesney, Fiz and even Kirk to fly across the world and put aside their differences if they are going to hit the jackpot!
Starring Wendi Peters, Sam Aston, Jennie McAlpine and Andrew Whyment
It's an all time classic. I believe this is the only version of Pride and Prejudice that does the book justice. Jane Austen would be very proud. I love the strength that Lizzy shows. She always holds her own and is not afraid to speak her mind. She is highly intelligent and is a good example. Colin Firth plays his part so brilliantly. The complex relationship between these two is wonderful. The battle of wills. Then to watch it all come toghether in the end always brings a tear to my eye. I have not seen a movie yet that beats this. They don't make them like this anymore.
i was so happy to see this film. It was a poignant and breathtaking tale of a mythical creature - the water horse ' Caruso' and his secret friendship with Angus, the boy who discovered Caruso and brought him up from an egg. This lovely tale is set during the second world war and is even more emotional because of the sideline events which are also happening. A guaranteed heart churner, this is a lovely film for everyone.
A few weeks ago our family was new to Peppa Pig so I really didn't know which DVD to start with.
I was going to buy the Complete Collection (just released) but I think 9 hours of any TV hit is a bit too much for my 2 year old at the moment (not to mention a 30 year old trying to sort through 9 discs in order to find the favorites!)
I bought Peppa's Christmas a few weeks ago as a run up to the Christmas season and it has been a HUGE HUGE hit. Suddenly watching ITNG has taken second place and I never thought I would see the day.
Peppa is an 'ordinary' little piggy and the series is sweet & refreshing. It's not overly basic so I can see my daughter adoring this lovable character for a few more years to come.
I'm going to buy one or two more Peppa DVD's, just for variety and in case this one wears itself out!
Definitely recommended
Series six does not reallly measure up to the high standards Spooks has set. First of all, visually it's much more conventional than the earlier series. But stories and characters were always Spooks' strongest assets. The stories are just not as gripping as they used to be and they seem to be running out of ideas. The first two episodes are about biological warfare, the third is about chemical warfare. The development of the storylines is sometimes not very convincing in terms of arriving at a solution. Too often there is the deus ex machina which is not satisfying. The characters are interesting as always, particularly nerw arrival Connie. Ros was never my favourite character but now she defintely develops in s very strange way. That in itself is not a bad thing but there are things going on which someone should notice but no one does. So all in all, it's entertaining but Spooks is defintely running out of steam.
I ordered this for my daughter for Christmas.Shes a huge Peppa fan, and thought she would be really happy to receive it on Christmas morning. However on arrival, I checked the episode listing and thought I'd check out the Christmas episode.I was really disappointed to find its the SAME Christmas episode as on Peppa's Christmas dvd!!!What a swizz!!I would have thought they might have at least included a new episode for the festive season . All the other episodes have been shown to death on Nick JR and I have to be honest I feel really short changed.I could'nt send it back because I had opened the sellophane packaging so I guess it will be sold on e bay sometime soon. Please be aware there is no new material on this disc, so unless your child is new to Peppa, AVOID!!!!!!!!!
Family guy started off as very good, but since season 4 it has gone very much down hill & this season now with more swearing, not really necessary, containing this is a new low, to me does not count as humour, there are some amusing moments, hence my 2 star rating, the Gene Kelly scene which was done very well cleverly, replacing Jerry the mouse with Stewie, but overall this cartoon, like The Simpsons, is running out of really funny, sarcastic, jokes, for what I would call toilet humour, which we are getting far too much of nowadays, & when you reach this you are finished. I will buy season 7, to see if it has improved, but only at a good price & I will not rush into buying it, but overall stick to seasons 1,2 & 3 for the best of this series anyone else agree with me.
I came late, but I am now an ardent Dibley disciple. Dawn French is delightful as the chocolate devouring, incurably romantic, caring and careworn Vicar. She attends to a tiny community of brilliantly barmy and quite certifiable characters, including her fabulously gerbel-brained verger Alice Tinker.
The scripts are crammed with deliciously fruity exchanges between the characters, showing off first-rate ensemble acting and many set pieces of virtuoso silliness. Particularly great is Roger Lloyd Pack, who glows with pungent pride as a farmer with better-left-unseen tendencies, and who develops an insatiable lust for Geraldine (the lovely lusty Vicar).
This entire series is a comedic marvel. So get the chocolate in and enjoy some brilliant TV. To Dawn and the crew: Forgive me for I have sinned in joining the congregation late, but I'm saying my Hail Dibleys!
The film was a bit of a let down because they missed what I thought was several key points of the book. However it is a good film to see.
I loved Bender's Big Score, but wasn't nearly as hot on Beast with a Billion Backs. Bender's Game is at least a step back in the right direction, but it also has a lot of the same problems as the previous movie, chiefly a lot of gags that just seem to misfire horribly(The entire extended Lord of the Rings/Dungeons and Dragons parody sequence around which the marketing for the movie is based felt laboured and unnecessary for one, despite a couple of nice scenes), and the movie again has no central 'character' plot like the Lars plot from Big Score yet again, unless you count Leela's 'anger management' plot, but that's a tad too comedy centric to be genuinely moving in any way.
There is a lot to like though. Bender has some great scenes, and there's a hilarious George Takei cameo at the start and the character dynamic feels like it works a lot better this time around, with believable, consistent, and most of all, amusing exchanges between the cast throughout. Honestly though, I think i'd have liked a couple more guest stars thrown in, as those seem to work out fairly well in these movies.
Overall, a step in the right direction despite a few stumbling blocks getting in the way. Still not quite up to the standards of the original TV series though, sadly, but you'll still have a great time.
