So far it is the weakest season of Scrubs, I personally maintain that Scrubs was at it's funniest season 2 and season 5 probably with 4 shortly after. But here the writing got sloppy and the actors do begin to try to compensate, it doesn't work. Again though, as many others say there are enough funny moments to make this a worthwhile purchase, and I'm a huge Scrubs fan so will probbaly never stop watching it. On the bright side, Season 7 (as short as it was through the writers strike) is much much better, which gives me hope for Season 8, (not sure about 9, would the show be the same with the actors playing J.D. and Carla leaving?)
Mongol is the first part of a trilogy of films on the life of Genghis Khan by Russian director Sergei Bodrov. With that in mind, you shouldn't be surprised when the film ends suddenly with Genghis' rise to power, as two more films are expected in the next few years.
It is also a wise decision on behalf of Bodrov to make a trilogy considering that other attempts at condensing the Khan's life into a two or three hour slot have failed so miserably in the past (Howard Hughes/John Wayne's 1956 film the Conqueror being the most notable).
This first half starts with Genghis as a nine-year-old boy, then called Temujin (spelt Temudgin in the film's subtitles) as he sets off with his father to choose a bride from a rival tribe, the Merkits. Along the way he makes an unexpected choice by selecting a girl called Borte, receiving a luxurious black sable coat in return as a dowry.
This choice will have a huge effect on Temujin's life, as it sets in motion a series of events that will see his father assassinated, his right as tribal leader usurped, his bride abducted, and himself captured, humiliated, and enslaved.
Defying the odds, and with almost supernatural support from the Mongols' chief deity, Temujin strikes back against his betrayers in a final gigantic battle against the assembled tribes of Mongolia. With his enemies defeated, Temujin rises to become the Great King, Genghis Khan, of all the Mongols.
The film does follow the basic outline of Genghis' early life, but it mostly plays fast and loose with the facts. Sometimes this works to the film's benefit, but at other times it doesn't. For instance, much of the story is simplified, as the constant struggles between the various tribes would have been to confusing for the viewer. At other times, the choices seem to be confusing. According to most sources Genghis was captured only once in his life, but several scenes in this film consist of Genghis being captured and later escaping only to be re-captured and enslaved again. This repetitive storyline does begin to grate at times, considering it isn't really necessary to further the plot or character development, and it's a strange addition considering most of these events never took place.
Worst of all it seems that much of the interesting events of the Khan's rise to power are omitted so that more of these chase and capture scenes can be included. It gets to be so frequent that at times it feels like you are watching a medieval version of Prison Break.
The ending also feels rushed in my opinion, as Temujin with the help of Borte, escapes from a Tangut prison, only to rush off in anger when he hears that the tribes of Mongolia have fallen into anarchy and lawlessness. The next time we see him, he has assembled a large army. No back-story is given to how he has achieved this, or how he's gone from penniless outlaw to powerful Warlord. This is the film's biggest failure in my opinion, as this should have been the back-story of the film.
That said, the film makes up for this with its great acting, its bloody battles and its wonderful cinematography. Japanese actor Tadanobu Asano (famous for his samurai roles in films like Zatoichi) makes a convincing Khan. He's good at portraying the ruthless warlord who executes and carves his way through his enemies, but he also shows the human side to the man, including his deep love for Borte and his illegitimate children.
Honglei Sun also throws in a brilliant performance as Jamukha, a drink sodden warrior and Genghis's blood brother.
Bodrov also does a good job of portraying the Mongolian landscape, with its vast and empty steppe, his rolling hills and its flowing lakes and rivers.
Overall this is a good film that has a few flaws in its storyline. It might not be completely accurate, but it does have plenty of entertaining scenes. It's also a nice change from the recent flow of Hollywood epics with their emphasis on ancient European history. Medieval Mongolia has never been so brilliantly re-created on screen before, and fans of these types of movies will enjoy it. This film isn't for everybody, and war and action fans might be disappointed if they expect nothing but bloody battles from start to finish, but there's plenty here to fascinate movie fans if they give it a chance.

Cars is a brilliently delightfull film. From the moment you watch ti you are left with the feelings of affection for this car. its a really entertaining film were you feel happy one minute and sadered the next. A remarkable film that both adults and children will enjoy.
I thought these episodes were better than most of series 1 and 2, generally more interesting. Exception: The rock star child kidnap episode was truly dreadful.
Rupert Penry-Jones as Adam Carter is ; in my opinion, better than Mat MacFadayen ever was.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang [1968] 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' is my second favourite after 'The Wizard Of Oz'. 'Chitty' stars Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, James Robertson Justice and Robert Helpmann. Though this release onto DVD is the Full Screen version of this film i personally prefere it due to the fact this is a wonderful transfere to Disc, with it's lovely deep colours and so beautifully restored it looks like a modern film. Dick Van Dyke is superb as the children's father who rescues a vintage racing car from a junk yard and gets the car working again. He decides the car should be called 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' and he tells his children a story of how the car is magic and able to float and fly. Everything is so wonderful about this film, this includes the lovely songs like 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (We Love You), You Two, Hushaby Mountain and not forgetting Lionel Jeffries song 'Posh' (Port Out Starboard Home, Posh with a capital P). Ballet dancer and actor Robert Helpmann gives a perfect performance as the evil child catcher, scaring generations of children in the same way as Margaret Hamilton did in 'The Wizard Of Oz'. 'Chitty' is also available in a special widescreen 2 Disc set, but the colours of the film seem a bit washed out and less vibrant so i prefere this Full Screen release because of the more vibrant colours. (and the Full Screen version seems to be more popular and more widely available than the latest widescreen release). If like me you like the original release onto DVD of 'The Wizard Of Oz' this release of 'Chitty' makes a good companion. DVD.
Merlin is an innovative, spellbinding new television series, which draws its audience in to a world full of intrigue and magic right from the start. The episodes are original, exciting and with some excellent yet not over-used effects, and compelling characters.
The actors are extremely well-cast bringing the series to life, whilst its combination of Robin Hood/Dr Who style excitement and well developed plots (with magic as prominent here as Robin Hoods' archery skills and the Doctors' Time Lord science), this new series is a real treat to watch.
Whether you are a younger viewer or over 18, there is something for everyone in 'Merlin', with its exciting, new interpretation of the legend. Some recognizable names give tantalizing clues as to the characters motives, but the unique and also humorous script means that more often than not the viewer is surprised. ...or kept on edge, hoping that there will be another series to follow characters which seem certain to return to Camelot sometime in Merlin's future.
If you have not already seen Merlin, catch it on BBC 1 on Saturday nights! If you have missed episodes, then these BBC volumes are perfect for catching up - and getting the bonus bits. As with many of these BBC1 series, the superb acting (and in Merlin the unique blend of magic, excitement and humor) make the series a brilliant watch for the second or even third time - themes weave through the various plots, whilst there are always more things to be spotted, or simply enjoyed, for a second time.
I'm a BIG Harry Hill fan and this is one of the best I've seen. Not too many songs and interruptions from the Harrys. Not too many interruptions from guests. Just great stand up, silly story telling and friendly audience baiting from Harry.
Stories include his Nan's trip to the zoo, and her embalmment. What sweets he took on his space shuttle missions. Keeping his tools in the back of his van, and a great new system for comparing marine animals with nuts, fruit and snacks.
Guests include Stouffer, who contacts the spirit world to pass on a message from the 'other side' to Becky in the audience. Gary Hill - Harry's son from his first marriage - performing a song and dance tribute to the soul singers of the past. Harry Hill senior tap dancing, and Becky from the audience plays interspecies swing ball with Abu the hamster.
In the finale Harry plays the national anthem as a tribute to Charles and Camilla on the 'hornophone', which is made of bicycle hooters. He's then joined by the Harrys to play 'in the mood', 'the theme from Eastenders', and the 'Pearl and Dean theme'.
It's silly, clever, imaginative and great fun for all the family.
Disney's 1959 Sleeping Beauty was the studio's most ambitious effort to date, a lavish spectacle boasting a gorgeous waltz-filled score adapted from the music of Tchaikovsky.
In the 14th century, the malevolent Maleficent (not dissimilar to the wicked queen in Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) taunts a king that his infant Aurora will fatally prick her finger on a spinning wheel before sundown on her sixteenth birthday. This, of course, would deny her a happily-ever-after with her true love. Fortunately, some bubbly, bumbling fairies named Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are on hand to assist.
It's not really all that much about the title character--how interesting can someone in the middle of a long nap be, anyway? Instead, those fairies carry the day, as well as, of course, good Prince Phillip, whose battle with the malevolent Maleficent in the guise of a dragon has been co-opted by any number of animated films since. See it in its original glory here, alongside Maleficent's castle, which, filled with warthogs and demonic imps in a macabre dance celebrating their evil ways, manages a certain creepy grandeur. --David Kronke, Amazon.com
ITS THE BEST!!! I HAVE ONE AND I WATCH IT AND REWATCH IT ALL THE TIME WELL WORTH THE MONEY
Well I've never been a massive Family Guy fan but I have always liked the programme I thought it was funny and original. But it seems to be losing it's creativity originality and comedy moments that made it so great on the first 3 seasons.
Now it has become excactly like "The Simpsons" (still better though). The episodes are good but not up to Family Guy standards, they all have funny moment but I feel like they've done it all before got it off some other good tv animated show. Aswell I think it's really stupid Family Guy fans trying to be cool and bashing the The Simpsons 1. It doesn't really matter & 2. There both as bad as each other. It seems that most programmes that become really popular just get lazy in their writting and continue to write badly written cheesey unfunny episodes so they'd get money easily. The one programme that actually stands out is South Park though it's overrated it still manages to keep it's creativity and hilarious moments in the programme. Family Guy fan? then buy this otherwise I wouldn't bother.
