I was bought this DVD as I had a very bad back. I started using the first program and eventually worked my way up to being able to do all the programs. I lost weight and gained loads of core strength. It may not be true pilates (so I read) but it has done wonders for me and my back. I now use it to maintain my strength and supplement this with kickboxing (another 10 minute solutions) - something I never would have been able to achive before.
This is one of the best films I've seen in ages - funny, touching and close to the book. It leaps from past to present, story to real life easily and effectively, and ties up Kissin' Kate Barlow, Madame Zerone and the Warden well, mixing up the stories as seamlessly as the book does. It is a beautiful adaption of the book - the screenplay was written by Louis Sachar himself, which means that it's been done exactly as he meant it to be. Writing is making a film in your head, and this is exactly the kind of film he was writing.
After the triumphant debut of the first season of House, many people believed it couldn't be topped. How wrong they were. Season Two not only shut up all the skeptics, it slapped them for even being doubtful. Season Two not only had the absence of the annoying character of Vogler, it gave us a deeper insight into all the characters. At the end of Season One we were introduced to House's ex Stacy. During Season Two we're given a more complex look on their past and their true relationship. The Stacy/House episodes introduce to the fans a deeper complexity to House and we see a more genuine side, rather than the typically cynical House we're used to.
There is one episode which I found a bit too much and felt it was pushing to be controversial. I know it still had a point and didn't fail to entertain and give some deep meaningful message that some will miss somewhere. I'm not going to tell you the episode as you will all know it when you see it. This season also features two very tough to deal with episodes as Foreman is taken down by a life threatening disease, that even House struggles to solve.
As always the show is filled with excellent quotes by House and the team. Below are some of my picks.
From Episode 1: Acceptance:
Foreman: "Aren't there better ways to spend our time?"
House: "Good question. What makes a person deserving? Is a man who cheats on his wife more deserving than a man who kills his wife?"
Foreman: "Uh yeah. Actually, he is."
House: "What about a child molester? Certainly not a good guy, but he didn't kill anybody. Maybe he can get antibiotics, but no MRIs. What about you? What medical care should you be denied for being a car thief? Tell you what: the three of you work out a list of what medical treatments a person loses based on the crime they committed. I'll review it when I get back."
From Episode 5: Daddys Boy:
House: "Gimme a reason to get out of this, and I'll tell you who started the rumor about you being a transsexual."
Cuddy: "There is no such rumor."
House: "There will be unless you get me out of this dinner."
From Episode 24: No Reason:
House: "Here's how life works: you either get to ask for an apology or you get to shoot people. Not both."
I Found Little Brittain Usa to be very enjoyable and funny.
thought the old characters were good, and the new ones were funny and a welcome addition, I Especially liked Ellie grace, the 8th man on the Moon, and old faves Lou and andy and marjorie doors.
I'll be buying this when it comes out.
If you dont like it, dont watch it or buy it simple
after the awful phantom menace this is if anything worse, the acting is awful as is the scripting and the film is also very boring.one of the worst star wars films
After hearing that Disney was going to release a third Little Mermaid I was partially excited but also was rather sceptical about whether it was going to be as poor as the second one.
The trailer for the movie was rather disappointing and did not do justice to the actual movie. Now after purchasing the film I would strongly recommend the film. With original new songs and an amazing storyling Ariel's Beginning is a welcome addition. And as Sebastian says there really is more to this story than meets the eye.
This is a really good special of Battlestar Galactica, but don't buy it if you get the series box sets, as its included in the Series 4 box set as disk 1. Bit annoying as I own both now
this is by far the best workout dvd i have ever bought. in just 2 weeks i have toned up have more energy and feel loads better. the box set is good value for money and allows a change between workout types. i would recommend this to anyone who wants to change their shape particulary after having children. i have found it fun and encouraging.
For some reason this film bypassed me on its first release, but eventually I caught up with it at the cinema and on dvd. If you like intelligent, beautifully acted literary adaptations, if you like beautiful scenery, and if you like real emotional content in your films, I heartily recommend The Painted Veil.
It's set in China during the rise of the Nationalist movement (1920s), and really benefits from actually being filmed there. It revolves around the relationship of a married couple Walter and Kitty Fane - brilliantly portrayed by Edward Norton and Naomi Watts.
Kitty marries Walter to escape from her mother, despite not being in love with him. They begin married life in Shanghai, where they are soon in the middle of the ex-pat British community where Kitty meets a government official and begins an affair. When Walter discovers her infidelity he exacts a fairly nasty revenge: accepting a post in an rural area called Mei Tan Fu with a cholera epidemic and insisting Kitty accompanies him. The main part of the story unfolds here, and is where you really get to know the characters and see them discovering each other.
At first there is anger and bitterness (he for her betrayal and his own foolishness in marrying her, she for his revenge but more for her lover's betrayal), but in the difficult environment they are forced onto their own resources. This is particularly enlightening for Kitty who has previously led a fairly shallow and frivolous life.
As Kitty and Walter discover there is more to respect in each other, they gradually fall in love against a backdrop of both Nationalist unrest and the local politics of trying to keep the cholera at bay.
The excellent leads are superbly supported by Liev Schrieber as the faithless lover, Toby Jones as a cynical neighbour, and Diana Rigg as the Mother Superior of the convent which provides the nursing support to Doctor Fane and his assistant, and a fantastic Chinese cast.
It's a film you can watch again and again because it works on so many levels.
