Peppa Pig - Vols. 1 To 3

I bought this for my daughter, who adores Peppa Pig!! Its brilliant and real value for money. It has 32 episodes in all, and keeps little ones entertained. Although I did get mine cheaper from a well known record store on the high street!!!!

Home Alone / Home Alone 2 - Lost In New York [1990]

Tell No-One (Ne Le Dis A Personne) [2006]

Tell No-One (Ne Le Dis A Personne) [2006]

Splendidly adapted from America to France this is a wonderful policier which obeys the rules of giving you all you need to solve the case and then misdirecting you handsomely. If you found Hidden (Caché) a real downer because it failed to finish the story then watch Tell No One to have your faith in French films restored. The plot is strong, the acting effective across the whole cast and the tension is palpable.

Eight years ago Dr Alexandre Beck was assaulted and his wife kidnapped, tortured and killed by a serial killer. So why is he now receiving emails from her? Why are the police after him? Who are the mystery group of assassins tapping his computer? Why are two men buried in the woods near the place his wife died? I have no intention of answering any of this but you are going to enjoy sitting down with a friend or two and puzzling your way through.

We really need six stars for films like this.

Max And Paddy's Box Set

Max And Paddy's Box Set

This series contains one of my favourite ever scenes in any comedy. The scene where Max and Paddy are stealing the plasma TV from Dixons dressed as 2 ambulance men, only to find when they get back to their mobile home that they haven't got the speakers is, for me, nothing short of sheer genius. Some people say it's weaker than Pheonix Nights, but to me it's every bit as good. There's plenty of extras and, as for the fitness DVD, well, let's just say that my gym workouts haven't been the same since, nor will they ever be again! Anyone who buys this will see what I mean.

The Forsyte Saga - Complete Series 1-7 Box Set [1967]

The Forsyte Saga - Complete Series 1-7 Box Set [1967]

I was sent to bed when the serie was shown in France in 1967, 10 years old at the time, but I amazingly remembered Kenneth More, Eric Porter and Nyree Dawn Porter faces. My mother was absolutly taken by the show and had no time for a kid.
Just last year, in Oslo, I walked into a news stand and found a very cheap print of the book. I bought it...........and let it rest until this summer on my coffee table. I finally took it while on a 10 days hike in the austrian alps and couldn't let go of the book. Primarly because I realized the Forsyte, although english, were just like my family !! Very chilling, but yet, there are heaps of french Forsytes, have a read at Emile Zoal or Balzac !!
I suddenly had to have the DVD. I finally went for the 1967 one and I'll never be sorry I did.
Black and white was in hinsight, a brilliant idea. Had it been in coulour, the make up would have been terrible. Don't forget most of the actors were in the 30's and had to be aged almost 50 years. Black and white allowed that.
I was amazed by the way it was filmed. One could believe it was very static, quite the contrary. The cameras never stop moving; think there were no portable cameras or steadycam then, but only very big " on stand video cameras.
The acting is just brillant but I'm sorry to say Nyree Dawn Porter'snperformance didn't really cut the mustard as far as I am concerned, still a very beautifull dame. All the other cast members are of the kind you would rarely or never find in France and elsewhere. I always had a soft spot for Kenneth More as a kid ans Eric Porter made me feel for poor Soames. Once you start watching you'll find it very hard to stop.........and we're talking 20 hours viewing. It's a bit like deciding to stop smoking........it's always the last one !!
You want to see some great english television, then buy the DVD. .................You'll thank me for it :)))

Pink - Live From Wembley Arena [2007]

Pink - Live From Wembley Arena [2007]

I'm married but when we went to see Pink live in Nottingham me and my female friend both walked out and said she could "take" us down the other path if you get my drift (& not married herself).
She is an amazing show woman, she's sexy, daring, has an exquisite voice!!! Need I go on!!
I've seen the Try This and I'm Not Dead tours live and she just keeps getting better!!!
I've only just bought this and the Try This dvd (Jan 08) but I can't wait to watch them!!!! Enjoy!!

Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage

Francesco's Mediterranean Voyage

I have watched Francesco's Venice over and over again, also Top to Toe. I treated myself to Mediterranean Voyage and will watch it repeatedly too. Francesco inspired a visit to Venice, and as a result will make a third trip next year. His home was pointed out to us by our Gondolier, and every time we passed on the Vaporetto, we gave him a little wave. I'd like to think he saw :o) Francesco you are a gem and convey your passion for the history of your city and all things Venetian. You care which makes us care. I confess however, you have managed to tinge visits to Venice with a little guilt. I hope we treat La Serenissima and her citizens with courtsesy and respect. It too would break my heart if I were a native of this magical place if I feared for her future as a "living city" and not a museum. Mediterranean Voyage opened my eyes even further as to how far the influence of Venetians has reached and wherever I travel in future I shall look around me for glimpses of the Lion. Venetians where here! The Black Swan was a veritable dream boat (as was her Captain!) Quite heartening to learn she was built close to my home. Thank you Francesco for all you have already done. Now, what's next?
